Dr Catherine Olweny
BA(Hons), BMBS, MA, MCoun, Dip Clinical Hypnosis, FANZCA, AFRACMA.
I am a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist with over 15 years of experience working with children and families. I am also a Registered Counsellor and a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I draw on my extensive clinical experience to work therapeutically with children and young people who experience anxiety related to medical procedures, specific phobias such as needle phobia and other medical conditions such as chronic pain and functional gastrointestinal disorders. In addition, I can support children experiencing social, and emotional challenges.
Strengths Based Approach
My approach is strengths based and tailored to your child’s needs. I use a range of therapeutic techniques that encourage your child to discover their own resources to overcome difficulties. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Hypnotherapy and Play based techniques.
